KINGSTON’S PRIDE—Kingston’s Town Crier Chris Whyman, Hill Times political history columnist Arthur Milnes, and Kingston Mayor Harvey Rosen, unveiled the new highway signs, in French and English, that the City of Kingston has placed in conjunction with MTO along Highway 401 at the entrances to the Canadian city that Sir John A. Macdonald called home. Mr. Milnes and former head of the Queen’s University Centre for the Study of Democracy, Tom Axworthy, began lobbying the City of Kingston to erect the signs in January 2009. Kingston City Council, after a presentation by Mr. Milnes, voted unanimously to proceed with the signs and to better trumpet Kingston’s unique connections to Canada’s Father of Confederation.
